How are babies and toddlers affected by early trauma? And how can we help them heal?
Those are key questions addressed by Tulane University’s Institute of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health.
Last week, Acting Assistant Secretary George Sheldon went to New Orleans to visit some of the Institute’s key programs and meet with Dr. Charles Zeanah, Jr., the Institute’s executive director and a national leader in the field of infant mental health.
While in New Orleans, Sheldon addressed an audience of researchers, advocates and Tulane faculty and students. In his speech, Child Welfare for the 21st Century, Sheldon describes how ACF is putting research on childhood trauma into practice.
