National Health Service Corps Community Day
October 10th is the National Health Service Corps Community Day. Since 1972, the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) has been building healthy communities by connecting primary health care providers to areas of the United States with limited access to care. Today, there are nearly 10,000 NHSC members providing culturally competent care to more than 10.4 million people. Many served by the NHSC are low-income women and children.
Corps Community Day is an event to showcase the importance of primary care and the role of the National Health Service Corps in the health of America. Corps Community Day takes place on October 10 but events are happening through the month of October. Host or participate in an event this year to show your support for primary care and for the network of clinicians providing a safety net for the underserved.
