The major goal of ADD programs is a partnership with state governments, local communities, and the private sector to assist people with developmental disabilities to reach maximum potential through increased independence, productivity, and community integration. They address all elements of the life cycle: prevention; diagnosis; early intervention; therapy; education; training; employment; and community living and leisure opportunities.
The Developmental Disabilities programs comprise three State-based programs that collaborate from different mandated activity areas. A fourth program addresses issues that are of concern to residents across the nation. more...

Projects of National Significance: Family Support 360 for Military Families, Funding Opportunity No. HHS-2008-ACF-ADD-DN-0009 This funding opportunity will enhance the capabilities of families in assisting children with developmental disabilities to achieve their maximum potential; support the increasing ability of children with developmental disabilities to exercise greater choice and self-determination and to engage in leadership activities in their communities; and ensure the protection of children with developmental disabilities' legal and human rights. For the purpose of this program announcement, the term "children" refers to individuals from birth to 25 years old. |

Help America Vote Act (HAVA) Training and Technical Assistance (T/TA) to Assist Protection and Advocacy Systems (P & As) to Establish or Improve Voting Access for Individuals with Disabilities, Funding Opportunity No. HHS-2008-ACF-ADD-DH-0034 The purpose of funds awarded under this announcement is to provide T/TA to P & As in their promotion of full participation in the electoral process for individuals with disabilities, including registering to vote, casting a vote, and accessing polling places; developing proficiency in the use of voting systems and technologies as they affect individuals with disabilities; demonstrating and evaluating the use of such systems and technologies by individuals with disabilities (including blindness) in order to assess the availability and use of such systems and technologies for such individuals; and providing T/TA for non-visual access. (At least one recipient must provide T/TA in this area.) |

Notification of Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 Federal Allotments to State Developmental Disabilities Councils and Protection and Advocacy Systems Formula Grant Programs, Funding Opportunity No. HHS-2009-ACF-ADD-DDC-0140 This notice sets forth FY 2009 individual allotments and percentages of the total appropriation to States administering the State Developmental Disabilities Councils and Protection and Advocacy Systems programs, pursuant to section 122 and section 142 of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act (the Act) [P.L. 106-402, October 30, 2000] The allotment amounts are based on the FY 2009 President’s Budget request and are contingent on Congressional appropriations for FY 2009. If Congress enacts a different appropriation amount in FY 2009, these allotments will be adjusted accordingly. |

UCEDDs are interdisciplinary education, research and public service units of universities, or public or not-for-profit entities associated with universities that implement the four core functions addressing, directly or indirectly, one or more of the areas of emphasis (e.g., quality assurance, education and early intervention, child care, health, employment, housing, transportation, recreation and other services available or offered to individuals in a community, including formal and informal community supports, that affect their quality of life). |
