Guidelines: Development of a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

- Define a list of all work products to be acquired, developed, or modified.
- Define all activities that need to be done to acquire, develop, or modify the work products.
- Define all other activities that must be accomplished, (including meetings, generating reports, testing, etc.
- For each of the other activities, define the steps that will be done to accomplish these activities.

- Component 1 (plan is to be build by a contractor)
- Determine supplier and develop contract
- Determine requirements
- Prepare bidders list
- Determine selection criteria
- Release Request for Proposal
- Receive Proposals
- Evaluate proposals
- Select supplier
- Negotiate contract
- Manage Supplier
- Receive component from supplier.
- etc.
