Description of the Risk Spreadsheet.
This spreadsheet is used to compute the probability, consequence, and risk exposure of each of the risks that have been identified in the risk management plan. The description of this worksheet assumes that you have read the Risk management Plan.
Column A contains the risk number
Column B contains the risk description
Note: columns A & B could be copied from the risk list.
Columns C through F contain the four probability factors. These factors are explained in the Risk management Plan and are represented as number between 0 and 1 (one decimal place, example .4).
Column C contains the Maturity factor
Column D contains the Complexity factor
Column E contains the Dependency factor
Column F contains the Stability factor
Columns G through J contain the four probability weights. These factors are represented as whole numbers between 1 and 9 (one decimal place, example 6). The excel spreadsheet comes with a one in each of the cells.
Column G contains the Maturity weight
Column H contains the Complexity weight
Column I contains the Dependency weight
Column J contains the Stability weight
Columns K through N contain the four consequence factors. These factors are explained in the Risk management Plan and are represented as number between 0 and 1 (one decimal place, example .3).
Column K contains the Capability factor
Column L contains the Public Relations factor
Column M contains the Cost factor
Column N contains the Schedule factor
Columns O through R contain the four consequence weights. These factors are represented as whole numbers between 1 and 9 (one decimal place, example 7). The default value for each weight is one. The excel spreadsheet comes with a one in each of the cells.
Column O contains the Capability weight
Column P contains the Public Relations weight
Column Q contains the Cost weight
Column R contains the Schedule weight
Columns S through U contain computed values.
Column S contains the computed Probability of the risk. This number is the weighted average of the probability factors. (The average of the numbers contained in columns C through F weighted by the numbers contained in columns G through J.) This number is rounded to one decimal place.
Column T contains the computed Consequence of the risk. This number is the weighted average of the probability factors. (The average of the numbers contained in columns K through N weighted by the numbers contained in columns O through R.) This number is rounded to one decimal place.
Column U Contains the Risk Exposure if the risk. This number is the product of the Probability and the Consequence. (Column S times Column T).
Columns V through AN are repeats of columns C through U. This allows the risk analyst to maintain a history of the risk analysis, and to compare the current risk analysis with the results of the previous risk analysis.
