Astor Services Recognized for Mental Health Programs in New York State
Astor Services for Children and Families is a Region 2 Head Start provider and a community based non-profit organization. Astor Services was recently recognized as a 2013 honoree at the ‘What's Great in Our State’, New York Celebration of Children's Mental Health Awareness. On May 7th, the New York State Museum hosted the event where Governor Andrew M. Cuomo presented a proclamation declaring the week of May 5th as Children's Mental Health Awareness Week in New York State. Over 100 mental health advocates, educators, administrators, civil servants and parents of children with mental health challenges were in attendance. Guests at the formal event were treated to presentations by the honorees.
Astor Services offers exemplary children's mental health services in conjunction with their early childhood development programs. The ‘What's Great in Our State's’ committee recognized the organization as a clear winner due to their positive staff morale; a significant driver for the mental health program's success. This is attributed to the program support which includes mental health training and services offered to employees. Join us in congratulating Astor Services for their heroic efforts to improve the lives of Region 2 Head Start's children and families.
