Infant Toddler Consultant Self-Assessment Tool Now Available

ACF Region I is pleased to share the Infant Toddler Consultant Self-Assessment Tool, a resource developed by Region 1 States with support from the Office of Child Care Technical Assistance system and other partners.

It is available on the childcare.gov website: http://childcare.gov/resource/infant-toddler-consultant-self-assessme...

The purpose of the tool is for consultants to assess their own level of proficiency with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to support early childhood programs that serve infants and toddlers. Consultants may also use the tool in shared reflection with a supervisor or peer to set professional development goals and action steps.

Program directors may find this resource useful to during a hiring process to determine appropriate competencies in potential staff. The self-assessment approach can also help to inform professional development opportunities. It is expected that this self-assessment tool will support more integrated professional development for child care providers and consultants. The consistent application of Core Knowledge and Competencies throughout the early childhood system will contribute to improved services for infants, toddlers, and their families.

This resource was developed as a companion to the Infant-Toddler Consultant Core Knowledge Competencies developed in Region 1. Also available on the web at: http://childcare.gov/sites/default/files/effective_guide_to_consultat...
