“Understanding the Grantseeking Process: An Educational Seminar for Non-profits.”


On Friday, March 28, 2014, Congressman Bobby L. Rush (1st Congressional District) sponsored a grant seeking seminar entitled “Understanding the Grantseeking Process:  An Educational Seminar for Non-profits.”  The event was held in New Lenox, Illinois at the Village Hall. The program included remarks from the village mayor, the Honorable Timothy A. Balderman and the Honorable Bobby L. Rush (U.S. House of Representatives).  The key theme of the event was developing and maintaining meaningful relationships within the non-profit community. A representative from the Donors Forum served as the moderator. Staff from four federal agencies participated on a speaking panel and provided valuable information about the funding processes for their respective programs.  Vander Green, IORA Region V, provided an overview of the various programs that are funded by ACF and other important information that was beneficial to the attendees, especially those who were interested in current funding trends and federal priority areas. The event was well-attended and participants and panel members engaged in extensive dialogue. Other federal agencies represented included the United States Department of Commerce (Economic Development Administration), United States Department of Homeland Security (FEMA) and the United States Department of Justice (IL Criminal Justice Information Authority).
