Formed in 1999, the Nevada Community Action Association (NCAA) is the member Association of all Community Action Agencies (CAAs) in the State of Nevada. NCAA provides training and technical assistance designed to assist agencies in their efforts to combat poverty in Nevada.
Use(s) of Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Program Funds
The NCAA will work with Turning Point Incorporated, a nationally recognized firm specializing in project evaluation and research, to identify and document the tactics utilized by top performing workforce agencies in the State of Nevada so that they may be implemented by others and disseminated by the NCAA and the Office of Community Services. The NCAA will document through evidenced-based research, the successful activities that train workers, create new jobs, including jobs in the green workforce sector, and that help low income individuals obtain these jobs.
The outcomes for the project are as follows:
- Documentation of the effectiveness of Employment/GreenJobs Indicators in the State of Nevada. Agencies will then have evidenced based data in order to justify future program model enhancements, program model modifications and resource development, ultimately improving education and job placement for low income individuals.
- Agencies will report improved long term employment program management and employment outcomes by participating in this project and through implementing exemplary practice models identified by the study.
Dissemination of a Nevada Exemplary Practices Manual which will document the exemplary practice models for employment programs, providing the NCAA, the State of Nevada CSBG Office and OCS with data driven information on which to base future training and technical assistance and funding needs of the Community Action Network.
