Twelfth Annual Welfare Research and Evaluation Conference


The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Administration for Children and Families’ (ACF) Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE) will hold its Twelfth Annual Welfare Research and Evaluation Conference May 27-29, 2009 in Washington, DC.

The conference will open with a plenary session about the past, present and future of social experiments testing strategies to improve the lives of low-income families.

Some of the leading experts in the areas of welfare research, employment, family self-sufficiency and social welfare policy will come together to highlight key themes and findings for families during the current economic downturn, as well as for implementation of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
