ADD Priority Survey
(Available July 15 - September 10, 2010)
ADD wants to work on the issues that are most important to people with developmental
disabilities.
We are looking for your ideas about Projects of National Significance (PNS).
We also want to hear your ideas for other ADD programs. Hearing about your
problems and your experiences will help make sure that PNS projects work on
the issues that are important to you.
The best PNS projects will deliver results for a long time. The best projects can
be easily copied by different communities. They encourage systems change
(instead of just providing help to one person, they change things for many
people).
They encourage different groups and organizations to work together in collaboration.
PNS programs may include, but are not limited to, projects related to:
- supporting families
- supporting self-advocates
- educating politicians and government officials about what people with
disabilities need
- making sure minorities are fully included in their communities and that they
are able to take advantage of the services they need
- helping youth transition into the adult world
- training people with disabilities in self-advocacy and making sure that they
are able make choices for their lives
- helping aging adults and caregivers
- helping people take advantage of services in their community
- helping people live in their communities in places that they choose
- helping people be independent
- helping people with their careers
- helping people access social and recreational activities
- teaching people about disability pride and disability history
or, of course, other needs that you identify!
