Greetings ANA Community!
In the ANA Summer Newsletter issue, we will share the current activities taking place at ANA, and introduce you to ANA's new Director of the Division of Program Operations (DPO), Carmelia (Mia) Strickland.
Mia joined ANA on February 27th, and literally “hit the ground running” on her first day as ANA was right in the midst of its annual panel review activities. Without hesitation, Mia immersed herself immediately in the grant review process, beginning with planning and attending the panel review sessions this spring. Mia is now completing the application process by reviewing and making recommendations on nearly 100 grant applications. Please see Mia’s full biography.
As you can expect, we are excited to have Mia on board during these extremely busy times at ANA. Please join me in welcoming her to the ANA team!
ANA has been active with planning a first time training for the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) staff titled “Working with Native Communities.” The two-day training occurred on June 1st & 4th. ANA initiated another first-time event and hosted its annual Grantee Meeting (June 5th) in conjunction with ACF’s Native American Conference (June 6th-8th). Within this edition, you will find details on all these events, as well as grantee highlights and articles related to social development, the theme of our summer newsletter.
Wopila,
Lillian A. Sparks
