Volume 1, Issue 5, June 2005
Review Update All 50 States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico were required to develop Program Improvement Plans (PIPs) following the initial round of child and family services reviews. Several States have completed their PIPs and the remaining States are in various stages of the PIP implementation process. Following completion of their PIPs, States will participate in a second review. The Children's Bureau is in the process of finalizing this re-review schedule. Once finalized, the schedule will be published in the Child and Family Services Reviews Update and on the Child Welfare Reviews section of the Children's Bureau Web site at http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cb.
Conference Materials Available The Children's Bureau's 15th National Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect was held in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 18-23, 2005. The conference featured information on a broad range of policy, research, program, and practice issues concerning the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse and neglect. The conference theme, "Supporting Promising Practices and Positive Outcomes: A Shared Responsibility," promoted interagency and interdisciplinary collaboration to maximize resources and provide more effective services to protect children and strengthen families. Several sessions included references to the child and family services reviews.
Videos of plenary speeches, abstracts of all conference presentations, and contact information for all speakers and presenters are available online at http://nccanch.acf.hhs.gov/profess/conferences/cbconference/index.cfm.
