Notes: Children of color in the 2002 cases were more likely to be in foster care than in the in-home services cases. Of the 198 African-American children in the 2002 sample, 38% were in the in-home cases, and 62% were in the foster care cases.
Of the 298 White children in the 2002 sample, 47% were in in-home cases and 53% were in foster care cases.
Of the additional cases reviewed in the 2002 sample, data on race/ethnicity were missing for 66 cases, 75 were classified as "two or more races," and 6 were Asian/Pacific Islanders.
This vertical bar chart compares black and white children iserved in foster care or in-home. Of 198 black children, 37% were served in-home and 61% were served in foster care. Of 289 white children served, 46% were in-home and 51% were in foster care.
