LEGAL AND RELATED REFERENCES:   Section 421 and 423 of the Social Security Act; and 45 CFR 1392.73 and .74

INSTRUCTION:    Under the current continuing resolution, effective through March 31, 1982, an annualized amount of $156,326,000 is available for the Child Welfare Services State Grant (title IV-B) program. The actual amount of each State's allotment for the fiscal year cannot be finally determined until an appropriation is enacted.

States meeting the requirements of Section 427(a) are further entitled to their share of $156,326,000. A separate table is included for those two funding levels. This table shows the tentative allotment of Federal title IV-B funds for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1982, at the $141,000,000 and the $156,326,000 levels, under P.L. 97-92, 3rd Continuing Resolution for FY 1982.

The tentative allotment table should be used by the States and Territories in preparing their fiscal year 1982 Annual Budget Request. States that have not yet requested the amount available to them should send to the region, as soon as possible, a revised CWS 101 with a copy to:
