INFORMATION MEMORANDUM

TO:   State Agencies Administering or Supervising the Administrationof Title IV-E of the Social Security Act; and State Independent Living Coordinators

SUBJECT:   Notification of Fiscal Year (FY) 1998 Final Federal Allotments to States Administering Title IV-E Independent Living Program (ILP)

LEGAL AND RELATED REFERENCES:   Sections 472, 474, 475 and 477 of Title IV-E of the Social Security Act; P.L. 102-394; 45 CFR Part 92; and Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993 (P.L. 103-66)

PURPOSE:   The purpose of this Information Memorandum (IM) is to inform States of: 1) the results of the ILP FY 1998 reallotment; and 2) the final allotment amounts for FY 1998 Independent Living Program.

CONTENT:   In accordance with section 477(e)(2), ILP funds not applied for were reallotted to States requesting reallotted funds using the statutory formula for distribution. In FY 1998, a total of $186,180 was available for reallotment. The individual reallotted amount and the final allotment for each State are listed in the attached table.
