Within the maltreatment types, a child victim is counted each time he or she is associated with a maltreatment and a perpetrator. A child may be counted in more than one type of maltreatment. Note that some of the percentage columns may not total 100.0 percent due to rounding of the category percentages.

This table lists the following perpetrator relationships to child victims in the first column: female parent acting alone, male parent acting alone, both parents, female parent and other, male parent and other, other relative(s), child day care provider(s), foster parent(s), residential facility staff, other and unknown. The next three columns are the maltreatment types as follows: neglect, physical abuse, and sexual abuse. Below each maltreatment type the chart lists the number of perpetrators in addition to the percentage of perpetrators who were associated with each relationship to the victim.
