Based on data from 25 States: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

This table lists types of maltreatment in the first column in the following order: neglect only, physical abuse only, physical abuse and neglect, neglect and any maltreatment type, physical abuse and any maltreatment type, any except physical abuse and neglect, unknown. The following column is a number of child fatalities that occurred as a result of the specified type of maltreatment. The third and last column gives a percentage of child fatalities that occurred as a result of each type of maltreatment. This is based on data from 23 States.
