Twenty-one states were included in these analyses: California, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, and Washington.

This table lists various factors and relates their correlation to later services and foster care. The factor categories are listed in the first column, the odds ratios predicting services is in the second column, and the odds ratios predicting foster care are in the third. The factors that had a significant p-value in predicting services were the following: Neglect/Medical Neglect, Sexual Abuse, Other Abuse, Multiple Forms of Maltreatment; African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, Other, Unable to Determine, Missing, Multiple Race, Non-Hispanic, and Hispanic Descents; Reports from Medical Personnel, Law Enforcement/Legal Personnel, Education Personnel, and Other/Unknown; a child over the age of three; and perpetrators with the following relationships to the victim: Father Only, Mother and Father, Mother and Other, Father and Other, Nonparent Perpetrator, and Perpetrator Relationship Unknown. The following were found to be significant in predicting foster care: Neglect/Medical Neglect, Sexual Abuse, Other Abuse, Multiple Forms of Maltreatment; Prior Victimization; races categorized as African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Other, Unable to Determine, Missing, Multiple Race, Non-Hispanic, and Hispanic; reports from Law Enforcement/Legal Personnel, Education Personnel, and other/unknown; a child over the age of three; and perpetrators with the following relationships to the victim: Father Only, Mother and Father, Mother and Other, Father and Other, Nonparent Perpetrator, and Perpetrator Relationship Unknown.
