Data source: CAF.

Victimization and investigation rates were computed by dividing the respective counts of children by the population and multiplying by 1,000.

All totals are rounded to the nearest 100,000. If fewer than 51 States respond data, the total is an estimate based on multiplying the rate by the child population for that year.

This table first lists each year from 1990 to 2002. The second column lists the child population in each year followed by the investigation rate in the third column. The fourth column lists the number of reporting States. The next column lists the total number of children who were subjects of an investigation or assessment, then the victim rate is listed. Next is a column listing the number of States reporting the victimization data and a column listing the total number of victims. The total victims column is an estimated number of victims, rounded to the 100,000.
