This pie chart indicates that 31.3 percent of child fatalities were perpetrated by the mother acting alone. Three-quarters (78.9%) of fatalities were cause by one or more parents. Such nonparental perpetrators as daycare providers, foster parents, or residential facility staff were responsible for 10.7 percent of fatalities.
