Perpetrators by Relationship to Victims and Types of Maltreatment, 2004
This table lists the following perpetrator relationships to child victims: parent, other relative, foster parent, residential facility staff, child daycare provider, unmarried partner of parent, legal guardian, other professionals, friends or neighbors, other, and unknown or missing. The first column lists the following maltreatment types: physical abuse only; neglect only; sexual abuse only; psychological maltreatment only, unknown only, or other only; and multiple maltreatment types. The number and percentage of perpetrators are listed by maltreatment type. Of the friends or neighbors who were perpetrators, 73.8 percent committed sexual abuse.
