This pie chart indicates that 28.5 percent of child fatalities were perpetrated by the mother acting alone. 76.6 percent of fatalities were cause by one or more parents. Such nonparental perpetrators as daycare providers, foster parents, or residential facility staff were responsible for 13.0 percent of fatalities.
