This bar graph breaks down the fatality victims by type of maltreatment. Each bar represents a type of maltreatment in the following order: neglect; multiple maltreatment types; physical abuse; psychological maltreatment, other, or unknown; medical neglect; and sexual abuse. Most fatalities were associated with neglect (42.2%), combinations of maltreatment types (27.3%), and physical abuse (24.1%).
