Child Fatalities, 2005-2006
This table lists each State in the first column and then the subsequent columns, for each year, are the child population; the number of child fatalities reported in either the Child File or the SDC file; the fatalities as reported in the Agency file, which is from other (non-CPS) agencies; the next column adds the two previous columns together for a number of total child fatalities; and the last column has calculated a number of fatalities per 100,000 children. The 2005 rate for the entire nation was calculated to be 1.96 fatalities per 100,000 children and the 2006 rate was calculated as 2.04 fatalities.
