Maltreatment Types of Child Fatalities, 2006
This table lists the following types of maltreatments: neglect; physical abuse; multiple maltreatment types; unknown or other; and sexual abuse. The next column displays the number of child fatalities that occurred as a result of the specified type of maltreatment. The third and last column gives a percentage of child fatalities that occurred as a result of each type of maltreatment. During 2006, 41.1 percent of child fatalities were the result of neglect.
