Victims by Maltreatment Type, 2007
This table first lists every State, then the cases by the type of maltreatment to which the victim was exposed. Each type of maltreatment has a column that lists the number of cases followed by a percentage of the total victims. The types of maltreatment are: neglect, physical abuse, medical neglect, sexual abuse, psychological maltreatment, other, and unknown or missing. The last two columns indicate the total number of maltreatments and the total percentages. Nearly 60 percent (59.0%) of victims experienced neglect.
