Based on data from 23 States: Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming; n= 250,904 male and 267,236 female report-child victim pairs. A report-child victim pair counts each child in each report in which he or she is found to be a victim, thus some children are counted more than once. Each child can be the victim of more than one type of maltreatment.
