Items 2.2 and 2.3: These numbers are larger than the number of reports in Item 2.1 because they include reporters and investigations for reports made in the previous year.
Item 2.2: "Parents" includes other relatives and friends and neighbors.
Item 2.3: "Other" dispositions include client noncooperation and terminated day care investigation.
Item 4.1: "Other" types of maltreatment include out-of-home care and death.
Item 4.9: These data were provided by the Louisiana Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association and reflect only cases that were initiated in CY97 (with no cases carried over from previous years). The data contain only CPS cases with a CASA representative and do not include children represented by an attorney.
Item 6.1: This total reflects the number of perpetrators associated with the substantiated reports counted in 2.3.A.
Item 7.2: The method used to determine the number of FTE?s doing particular types of work was a random moment sample conducted by the Louisiana Department of Social Services (in accord with its Federally approved Cost Allocation Plan). This sample measured the time ascribed to designated activities in each service area by the professional staff at the local level. The population used for the SDC were social services specialists and intake workers in local parish offices and regional offices in the Office of Community Services.
Item 7.3: In 81 percent of all investigations, the alleged victim was seen within the State?s mandated response time (24 hours, 3 calendar days, or 10 working days, depending on the nature of the report). This proportion is based on a sample of 2,400 investigations.
