Item 1.1: The children who received these services were primarily court-ordered supervision cases. These cases were opened for many reasons, including suspected neglect or abuse. The families counted here are those that CPS decided needed help or who requested help from CPS.

Item 2.3: "Other" includes reports that requested information only or resulted in information only.
Item 5.1: The Department of Human Services does not receive reports of all child fatalities because some of them are reported directly to law enforcement for investigation and criminal prosecution.
