Item 2.1: Number of reports not referred for CPS assessment were estimated.

Items 2.3, 3.2, and 6.1: These figures represent running totals that change as additional assessment outcomes are entered.

Item 7.1: Because of multiple roles by field personnel, the number was estimated from personnel listings.

Item 7.2: In New Hampshire, screening and intake are conducted in one location.

Item 7.4: Response time is measured from the time that referral information is completed to the date that an assessment supervisor approves the completed assessment. Cases selected included only founded cases with continuing services taken from the SACWIS system between March 7 and December 31, 1997. Cases with unlikely times were omitted from the sample.
