Item 1.1: Preventive services delivered prior to the reporting of abuse/neglect to the Department are not known.

Items 2.3 and 3.2: "Other" dispositions are those left in pending status because of the conversion to a new information system.

Items 3.3-3.5: Because of the conversion to a new information system, New Mexico reported data for the last 6 months of 1997 only. In that period of time, 970 substantiated children, 215 unsubstantiated children, and 63 other children received services. In the same period of time, 3,567 substantiated children, 4,826 unsubstantiated children, and 1,613 other children did not receive services. In addition, 1,074 substantiated children were removed from the home.

Items 4.6-4.8: Because of the conversion to a new information system, New Mexico reported data for the last 6 months of 1997 only.In that period of time, 310 child victims were reunited with their families, court action was taken for 998 child victims, and 998 victims received court-appointed representatives.

Item 7.1: This number includes the following workers: Intake-7 (1 supervisor); Investigation and Treatment-289 (52 supervisors); Placement-53 (9 supervisors); Independent Living-4. Workers who provide placement and independent living services also provide some assessments as part of their job. These numbers are from a State report, "Breakdown of Social Workers by County & Service Type."

Item 7.2: This number includes 7 intake workers and 76 social workers who have primarily investigation and treatment tasks but who conduct some intake and assessment.
