First Collection Report for 1992

DC-9209

February 28, 1992

TO All STATE IV-D DIRECTORS

RE: First Collection Report for 1992

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to forward to you the first collection report for the 1992 Federal Tax Refund offset program. Enclosed is the collection report representing the tax refund offsets for the month of February 1992 Collection/Adjustment/Address Report and the corresponding name change report.

The February 1992 net collection total for 81,800 offsets is $64,316,578 as compared to the net collections for February 1991 of $35,139,018. This represents and increase of approximately 83% over the same time period in 1991. The IRS attributes this increase to tax payers filing much earlier then usual.

We would also like to remind you that beginning with the month of February 1992, the fee amount the IRS charges for processing tax offsets has been set at $4.65. The IRS attributes the reduction to a decrease in processing costs.

If you have any questions pertaining to the tax offset program, please feel free to contact the Special Collections Unit at

(202) 401-9389.

Sincerely,

Allie Page Matthews
