OCSE Videotape entitled "High Achieving Teams"

DCL9241 October 6, 1992

TO ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS

Dear Colleague:

I am pleased to enclose a copy of OCSE's videotape on team building entitled: "High Achieving Teams." This videotape, which features Bob Nanto of our Denver Regional Office as presenter, is in two parts. In Part One, Bob defines what a team is, explores the characteristics of high achieving teams, and looks at ways to organize teams in child support enforcement offices.

In Part Two, which immediately follows Part One, he goes into detail on how to take individuals who have been formed into a group and make them a high achieving team. This portion of the presentation contains excellent suggestions for motivating employees--and keeping them motivated. Additionally, each of the videos contains several stopping points so that staff have an opportunity to review and discuss the ideas being presented.

The Child Support Enforcement Program seems an ideal environment in which to use a team concept, since case processing includes a number of discrete elements, such as intake, locate, paternity establishment, and enforcement. I hope you will make copies of this excellent training aid and use it widely in your State. I would also be pleased to hear from you on the overall usefulness of the videotape. If you have questions or would like further information, please get in touch with Phil Sharman at OCSE's National Training Center at (202) 401-4626.

Sincerely,

Allie Page Matthews

Deputy Director

Office of Child Support Enforcement
