The Office of Child Support Enforcement Giving Hope and Support to America's Children

National Training Center

DC-9253

December 29, 1992

TO ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS

RE: National Training Center

Dear Colleague:

The office of Child Support Enforcement's National Training Center (NTC) has completed its second year of operations. From the beginning our goal has been to support States' efforts in delivering high quality Child Support Enforcement (CSE) training.

In furtherance of that goal we are forwarding directly to each Training Liaison, with a copy of this letter, the CSE curricula from our most recent national conference. the three modules--interstate enforcement, immediate income withholding, and review and adjustment--may be tailored to meet training needs at both the State and local level. As always, we would be pleased to receive comment on the usefulness of the curricula.

In supporting States' training activities over the past tow year, NTC has accomplished a number of major objectives. These include:

* setting up training resource files; including State

selected curricula, videotapes, and lists of speakers and

subject experts;

* publishing training articles in the "Child Support Report" on a regular basis;

* serving as a central clearinghouse, materials distribution, and information dissemination conduit;

* working with NCSEA, ERICSA, and WICSEC conference planners;

* coordinating our overall efforts with these and other training experts outside government;

* providing limited on-site training and technical assistance at State and national CSE conferences:

* conducting two national CSE training workshops

* conducting three Training of Trainer week-long courses; and

* completing an impact evaluation of the First National CSE Training Workshop.

In addition to ongoing functions, examples of possible activities in our third year include:

* developing a course on the topic interstate enforcement;

* designing additional "model" training curricula for use by trainers in the field; and

* updating key publications, such as History and Fundamentals of Child Support Enforcement.

We are also soliciting articles on the topic of training for the "Child Support Report," so please let us know if you or one of your staff would be interested in writing one. If you have any questions, or if you would like further information about the National Training Center, please call NTC's Training Coordinator, Phil Sharman at (202) 401-4626.

Sincerely,

Allie Page Matthews
