Outreach program "Kids. They're Worth Every Penny"
January 4, 1993
(Control No. DC-93-01)
Dear Colleague:
As part of this Office's outreach activities, we recently compiled a public affairs document designed to convince editors of national women's and children's-related magazines of the need to publish information about the importance of paternity establishment and the availability of child support services.
I am enclosing two copies of the OCSE outreach report entitled "Kids. They're Worth Every Penny" for your review and possible use.
This public affairs document is unique with regard to the order and presentation of information on paternity establishment and child support services. The information presented ranges from the personal to the statistical. It was designed with the interest in piquing the curiosity of magazine editors, reaching those parents who do not even know child support services exist, and de-mystifying the process that a parent might encounter upon request of child support services.
We believe that this public affairs document might have multiple uses at the State and local level. For example, the utility of this document could be extended to the general public, the news media, and/or local and state officials. It may provide the basis for the development of new, or revision of, informa-tional materials on the child support program.
Since this is the first publication of a public affairs report of this nature, our supplies are limited. However, if you would like additional copies of this document please call the National Training Center at (202) 401-9382 or write:
