Tax Refund Offset Collection report

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to forward to you the first collection report for the 1993 Federal Tax Refund Offset Program. Enclosed is the collection report representing the tax refund offsets for the month of February 1993 minus the service fee and any adjustments made during this period for the 1984 through 1993 processing years. The net collection total for February for 136,599 offsets is $109,665,833. The electronic funds transfer should be effected on March 5, 1993. Enclosed where appropriate is a copy of the February 1993 Collection/Adjustment/Address Report and the corresponding name change report.

The February 1993 net collection total for 136,599 offsets is $109,665,833 as compared to the net collections for February 1992 of $64,316,578. This represents an increase of approximately 70% over the same time period in 1992.

We would also like to remind you that beginning with the month of February 1993, the fee amount the IRS charges for processing tax offsets has been set at $5.19. The increase in the fee can be attributed to an increase in the IRS cost to administer the

program. Please inform the appropriate program people of this

change.
