Tax Refund Offset collection report

TO ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to forward to you the second collection report for the 1993 Federal Tax Refund Offset Program. Enclosed is the collection report representing the tax refund offsets for the month of March 1993 minus the service fee and any adjustments made during this period for the 1984 through 1993 processing years. The net collection total for March for 194,189 offsets is $136,303,635. The electronic funds transfer should be effected on April 7, 1993. Enclosed where appropriate is a copy of the March 1993 Collection/Adjustment/Address Report and the corresponding name change report.

The year-to-date total for processing year 1993 is $247,887,639 as compared to $253,884,178 for processing year 1992. The year-to-date total through March 1993 is slightly lower than the total for the same time period last year because the totals for March of last year contained 5 cycles whereas this year March only contained 4 cycles. Also, IRS has indicated that filings are 5% - 10% lower at this point this year as compared to the same time period last year.
