New Hire reporting

DC-93-35

July 23, 1993

TO ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS

Dear Colleague:

This letter is to share with you some recent State trends in the areas of immediate W-4/employer reporting of new hires and licensing restrictions/revocations. Over the past few years, approximately 36 States have introduced legislation in these two areas. Twelve States have enacted legislation on immediate employer reporting and 14 States have enacted legislation on licensing. The enclosed tables summarize key provisions of the States' child support legislation in these two areas.

Also enclosed is a list of State contact people and their telephone numbers so that you can get in touch with people in other States who are working with these two remedies.

This information was gathered by our ACF Regional Office staff.

Since passage of legislation is a dynamic process and the information is subject to change, we have dated the tables. As changes occur, please keep your ACF Regional Office informed so that we can update the tables.

We hope that this information will be of assistance to you.

Sincerely,

Robert C. Harris

Acting Deputy Director
