ACF/Office of Child Support Enforcement
FY 1994 Preliminary Data Report
April 5, 1995 DC 95-25
Dear Colleague:
Enclosed you will find a copy of the Child Support Enforcement
FY 1994 Preliminary Data Report. This report provides
financial and statistical information on the Child Support
Enforcement program and includes data reported to the Office of
Child Support Enforcement as of March 17, 1995.
Report highlights reveal that in FY 1994, State Child Support
Enforcement programs:
Established paternity for almost six hundred thousand
children,
Established more than one million orders for child support,
and
Collected almost ten billion dollars in child support
payments.
While many of the program accomplishments are noteworthy, this
report clearly shows that there is a great need for improvement
in the system. It seems only fitting that in this year of the
twentieth anniversary of the Child Support Enforcement program,
Congress and the Administration are carving out these
improvements and the significant role that Child Support
Enforcement will play in the overall welfare reform process.
Please note that the numbers presented in the enclosed report
are preliminary and subject to change. If you have any
questions or comments concerning the report please call Joyce
Pitts at (202) 401-5374.
Sincerely,
David Gray Ross
Deputy Director
Office of Child Support
