IRS Mail-Out to Employers

DC-97-29

TO ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS

RE: IRS Mail-Out to Employers

Dear Colleague:

Enclosed for your information is a brochure which will be included in the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) Spring quarterly mail-out to employers nationwide. This brochure, a follow-up to the first one issued last December, provides answers to employers' most frequently asked questions about new hire reporting. It also includes phone numbers which employers can use to call for State specific information. The numbers were obtained from each State's designated new hire reporting contact and have been checked for accuracy.

The IRS has informed us that their mail-out will be staggered, proceeding from the West (Alaska and Hawaii) to the East. Mailing will begin at the end of May and will finish up in early to mid-June.

Many of you asked for copies of the first brochure sent out through IRS and we have supplied you with several thousand additional copies. Shortly after IRS begins its mailing, we will be able to again offer this service to you for this brochure.

I want to thank both the States and the Expanded FPLS Work Group representatives who provided us with valuable input.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Pat Hagen at (202) 401-5684, or Karen Bartlett at (202) 401-4630.

Sincerely,

David Gray Ross
