Re: Federal Tax and Administrative Offset Collection Report for September 1998

Dear Colleague:

We are forwarding to you the eighth Collection/Adjustment/Address and corresponding name change reports for the combined 1998 Federal Tax Refund and Administrative Offset Programs. Enclosed is the collection report representing federal tax refund and administrative offsets for the month of September 1998 less the Interal Revenue Service (IRS) fee of $6.80 and the Financial Management Service (FMS) fee of $8.35 per offset and any adjustments made during this period for the 1993 through 1998 processing years.

The net collection total for September 1998 for 19,537 offsets is $13,072,027 as compared to 18,199 offsets for $12,233,073 in September 1997. The Year-To-Date net collection total for processing year 1998 through September is $1,104,904,160 for 1,270,859 offsets as compared to $1,082,309,273 in net collections for 1,263,139 offsets in September 1997.
