Re: Federal Tax and Administrative Offset Collection Report for May 1998

Dear Colleague:

We are forwarding to you the fourth Collection/Adjustment/Address and corresponding name change reports for the combined 1998 Federal Tax Refund and Administraive Offset Programs. Enclosed is the collection report representing federal tax refund and administratibve offsets for the month of May 1998 less the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) fee of $6.80 and the Financial Management Service (FMS) fee of $8.35 per offset and any adjustment made during this period for the 1993 through 1998 processing years.

The net collection total of May 1998 for 386,629 offsets is $298,667,077 as compared to 373,922 offsets for $288,128,564 in May 1997. The Year-To-Date net collection total for processing year 1998 through May is $973,596,909 for 1,088,161 offsets as compared to $937,038,136 in net collections for 1,058,767 offsets in May 1997.

The transfer of funds through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) is scheduled to be accomplished on May 28, 1998. If you have any questions please contact the Special Collections Unit at (202) 401-9389.
