RE : Federal Tax and Administrative Offset Collection Report for July 1998

Dear Colleague:

We are forwarding to you the sixth Collection/Adjustment/Address and corresponding name change reports for the combined 1998 Federal Tax Refund and Administrative Offset Programs. Enclosed is the collection report representing federal tax refund and administrative offsets for the month of July 1998 less the Interal Revenue Service (IRS) fee of $6.80 and the Financial Management Service (FMS) fee of $8.35 per offset and any adjustments made during this period for the 1993 through 1998 processing years.

The net collection total for July 1998 for 49,671 offsets is $32,955,337 as compared to 64,824 offsets for $42,045,127 in July 1997. The Year-To-Date net collection total for processing year 1998 through July is $1,078,187,865 for 1,229,440 offsets as compared to $1,057,105,710 in net collections for 1,221,595 offsets in July 1997.

The transfer of funds through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) is scheduled to be accomplished on July 31, 1998. If you have any questions please contact the Special Collections Unit at (202) 401-9389.
