Re: Federal Tax and Administrative Offset Collection Report for August 1998

Dear Colleague:

We are forwarding to you the seventh Collection/Adjustment/Address and corresponding name change reports for the combined 1998 Federal Tax Refund and Administrative Offset Programs. Enclosed is the collection report representing federal tax refund and administrative offsets for the month of August 1998 less the Interal Revenue Service (IRS) fee of $6.80 and the Financial Management Service (FMS) fee of $8.35 per offset and any adjustments made during this period for the 1993 through 1998 processing years.

The net collection total for August 1998 for 21,882 offsets is $13,008,098 as compared to 23,337 offsets for $12,329,959 in September 1997. The Year-To-Date net collection total for processing year 1998 through August is $1,091,525,197 for 1,251,322 offsets as compared to $1,069,809,553 in net collections for 1,244,932 offsets in August 1997.

The transfer of funds through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) is scheduled to be accomplished on August 31, 1998. If you have any questions please contact the Special Collections Unit at (202) 401-9389.
