RE: Federal Case Registry/1099 Safeguarding Certification

Dear Colleague:

The Federal Case Registry (FCR)/Project 1099 annually requires all States to submit certifications of compliance with safeguard and security requirements relating to locate information received from the FCR/1099. A form for this purpose is enclosed.

Before completing this form please refer to the requirements for certification as noted in the FCR Interface Guidance document (IGD) in Section 9 Page 18. If you do not have a copy of the IGD you may locate a copy on our website at: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cse/stsys/!cse.htm.

Requirements for the safeguarding of 1099 data are contained in the IRS publication: Safeguarding for Protecting Federal Tax Returns &; Return Information (1075) which is also located on our website and at: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p1075.pdf

Please complete the certification form and return it to the Federal Parent Locator Service (FPLS). The FCR will not return any 1099 data if a valid certification is not on file. This certification will cover the period from the date you complete this form through SEPTEMBER 29, 2001. You must mail the original form to the following address:

All forms should be on State letterhead with the signature of the State IV-D Director or designee.
