Dear Colleague:

OCSE is scheduling a series of telephone conference calls to solicit information regarding State’s efforts to use child support data to support performance and decision making. There will be five Conference calls scheduled by ACF Regional Hubs.

As you know, there is a wealth of valuable data contained in statewide child support automated systems but the nature of the databases in most States makes it difficult to fully utilize this data in a timely and cost-effective manner. To better utilize this valuable information for measuring performance, improving data quality and responding to inquiries, a number of States are extracting the data in their child support systems and through data warehousing, data mining and other techniques transferring the data into relational databases that provide their management and staff with easier access to ad-hoc reports, statistical information and performance data. A number of these ad-hoc reporting systems have been demonstrated at recent national and regional child support conferences.

At the request of a number of States who desire more information about this process, OCSE will be conducting these conference calls to facilitate the sharing of information about each State’s ad-hoc reporting capability and plans. During the call, we will be asking each State to provide us with an overview of what efforts they might have underway or in the planning stage in this area and, also, what suggestions for the types of technical assistance from the Federal government might be helpful.

The days, times and procedures for accessing the telephone conference calls are provided as an attachment to this letter. If you are unable to call in at the day scheduled for your Region, you may participate in one of the other Regional calls.
