RE: Tempo on Corrective Action Process and Planning for Self-Assessment

Dear Colleague:

Attached is a "Techniques for Effective Management of Program Operations" (TEMPO) monograph on the corrective action process and planning a state’s corrective action in response to self-assessment reviews. As discussed in the self-assessment regulations at 45CFR 308, a state must describe how it will change its child support enforcement program to better achieve the goals of the program and the benchmarks of self-assessment. The actions described should be clearly aimed at solving all the problems identified in the self-assessment and assisting the state in evaluating its own performance against the eight program criteria specified in the regulations. The goal of this TEMPO is to provide states with directions for creating a corrective process as well as to provide suggestions for evaluating program practices and processes for the corrective action plan.

For additional information regarding corrective action process and planning for self-assessment, please contact Mike Hansen, Office of Audit, at 202-401-5740 or mhansen@acf.hhs.gov.

Sincerely,

Sherri Z. Heller, Ed.D.
Commissioner
Office of Child Support Enforcement
