The Office of Child Support EnforcementGiving Hope and Support to America's Children

DCL-02-25

DATE: September 20, 2002

TO: ALL IV-D DIRECTORS:

RE: FY 2001 Data Preview Report

Dear Colleague:

Attached is a copy of the Child Support Enforcement (CSE) FY 2001 Data Preview Report. This report provides financial and statistical information on the Child Support Enforcement program for fiscal year 2001.

I have benefited greatly from talking with many state IV-D directors about how to discuss these data so that various government officials, advocates, and media representatives focus on the important issues. Thank you for these very valuable interactions. I hope that the Preface I've added to the traditional presentation of the numbers is useful to you as you are asked to interpret the data for others.

Note that information presented in this report does not take into account the data reliability audits recently conducted on incentive-related data items. State officials should carefully review data to ensure that numbers included in this report agree with timely submissions to the Office of Child Support Enforcement. Contact regional offices with any concerns.

Sincerely,

Sherri Z. Heller, Ed.D.
Commissioner
Office of Child Support Enforcement
