DEAR COLLEAGUE LETTER

DCL-04-05

DATE: January 29, 2004

TO: ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS

RE:  Matrices of State websites related to customer service and security

Dear Colleague:

As part of the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement’s (OCSE) efforts to encourage states to improve the access of child support data to clients, I am pleased to provide you with two products recently developed:  A matrix of State websites related to customer service; and, a summary of state resources related to security aspects of those websites that provide secure information.  These products are now available on the OCSE website at: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cse/stsys/wbcs/CustomerWeb.htm

The need for a State website matrix was suggested by several states during the OCSE training for Customer Service Web development, as was the need for additional resources related to website security.  In the attached matrices, we have attempted to summarize the URL for each state, the resources that are available to other states planning development or upgrades to their websites, information available on the web, web functionality and state contacts.  However, because the information on state websites can be accessed only though an ID and password, we recognize that the information contained in this matrix may be incomplete.  We plan to issue periodic updates to this State Customer Service Information matrix.  Therefore, we urge you to provide any corrections or updates to the matrix for your state.

The State Website Security information matrix provides a summary of security features used by various states on their customer service websites.

We look forward to receiving your feedback on these matrices.  Please send comments and suggestions to Mike Rifkin at 202-401-6501 or email at MRifkin@acf.hhs.gov.

Sincerely,

Sherri Z. Heller, Ed.D.
Commissioner
Office of Child Support Enforcement
